Groton Man Pleads Guilty to Stabbing Cousin with Screwdriver
The victim was reportedly stabbed in the neck and chest with the tool.

GROTON, CT- A local man pleaded guilty Tuesday to stabbing his cousin with a screwdriver last year, The Day reported.
Richard Sawyer IV, 33, will serve four years in prison and five years probation on Sept. 8 for the incident, according to The Day. His admission of guilt came under a plea deal that indicated he does not necessarily agree with the state’s version of what happened, yet does not want to risk harsher treatment if convicted.
The incident spurred when Sawyer and his cousin were severely intoxicated and drunkenly brawling, as reported by The Day. The two had initially told responding officers and hospital personnel that the victim had fallen in the woods, however further investigation revealed that the puncture wounds had been made by a screwdriver.
