Groton Man Sentenced For Trafficking Cocaine

He was importing cocaine from the Bronx and used his restaurant to traffick some of the drug.

NEW LONDON, CT — New London restaurant owner Paul Mott, 29, of Groton was sentenced to five years in federal prison for trafficking cocaine.

Mott conspired with others during the summer of 2016 to obtain and distribute the drug, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office. Mott picked up the drug from his supplier in the Bronx.

Some of the trafficking took place in his restaurant Caribbean American Kitchen and Go on Truman Street.

He was arrested on Aug. 8, 2016 and was found to be in possession of 319 grams of cocaine. More cocaine was found in a hotel room where he was residing. He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possesses with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

He forfeited a Toyota 4Runner and nearly $3,500.
