Police said the Groton Town Police Department will be adopting a new approach to school safety and security.

GROTON, CT — Police said the Groton Town Police Department will be adopting a new approach to school safety and security. According to the department's Facebook page, the policy is entitled "Every School, Every Day."

Under this initiative, officers will be directed to visit schools in their patrol area every day school is in session, as well as during after school activities, police said.

Police said these visits will be random and unannounced, during which officers will be encouraged to "engage with students, faculty and parents to demonstrate a positive police presence and enhance the feeling of safety for all."
