Groton Police: Heroin Epidemic Still Rages
Groton has seen a sharp increase in the number of overdoses in 2016, according to police.

GROTON, CT — The heroin epidemic that has raged through New London County - and throughout Connecticut - over the last several months continues to be a huge problem, according to Groton police.
NBC Connecticut News reports that heroin overdoses have doubled in the city during the first nine months of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015, based on information from Groton Police Chief L.J. Fusaro.
The rise in drug use has been linked to other crimes, such as assaults and burglaries, he told NBC Connecticut.
