Groton Police Investigate Suspicious Incident

A caller reported he had explosives at a mobile home park that was evacuated. Police later determined there were no explosives.

GROTON, CT — A man made a false report that he had an explosive device which led to the evacuation of a mobile home part in Groton on Monday night, according to police. Police received a call at 11:08 p.m.

The caller reported that he was "going to blow up" and said he had explosive material in and around his bedroom. Officers arrived, secured the scene, and assisted residents living nearby with evacuating their homes.

The state police's Emergency Service Unit's Bomb Squad was notified and assisted. Police then entered the residence, spoke with the caller, and determined there were no explosive materials or threat to public safety.

The caller was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

Residents were allowed to return to their homes. No injuries were reported.
