GROTON, CT — The police department has hired a new officer and a new dispatcher. The following was posted on the department Facebook page:

"Please join us in welcoming our newest members to the Town of Groton Police Department:
Officer Gregory Hunter is a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps and joins the department after serving the State of Connecticut in the Department of Corrections and concluding his career with the State Police. He is a resident of Groton and looks forward to serving his community.
Dispatcher Michael White is a member of the North Stonington Ambulance and also serves as an EMT for Ashaway (RI) Ambulance as well. He previously worked at Alert Ambulance in Wakefield, RI.
