Groton Utilities Water Rates Increase July 1

Second phase of Groton Utilities water rate schedule effective with all bills going forward.

Groton Utilities Water Division’s water rates increase 6.2 percent on Friday, July 1. The increase applies to all classes of customers – residential, commercial and industrial.

This is the second phase of a two-step rate increase approved in 2015. The typical household using 800 cubic feet of water per month will see a monthly increase of approximately $2.96.

The new rate structure was initiated in order to support the $42 million water bond issue approved in 2015, which will finance the infrastructure improvements at the Water Treatment Plant.
