Groton Water Taxi Demo Project Starts This Weekend
The city of Groton is asking people to ride the water taxi and give their feedback. Volunteers are also needed to assist.

The City of Groton Government is seeking the public’s help in making the water taxi program the best it can be. The following information was posted on its Facebook page:
The long-awaited water taxi will run a demo project this weekend and next weekend. The tentative schedule is below. This is a demo for next year so please ride the taxi and give us feedback.
There will probably be bugs to work out so help us make this the best it can be for the future. Please share this with everyone you know.

- Shuttle will run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept. 6, 7, 13 & 14.
- The shuttle will run clockwise from New London City Pier in Waterfront Park to the ferry landing at the bottom of Fort Street in Groton to Fort Trumbull State Park Pier 7 and back to City Pier in downtown. The loop takes approximately 30 minutes.
- The last run from City Pier is at 8:30 p.m.
- The last run from Groton is at 8:45 p.m.
- The last run from Fort Trumbull is at 9 p.m.
- This is a shuttle service to link area attractions. If there is a crowd waiting to board the shuttle, arriving passengers may be asked to disembark to make room.
Volunteers Needed
The city of Groton is seeking volunteers for the following tasks:

- Hand out a flyer
- Point out the schedule cards which will be available in the plexi-boxes affixed to the sandwich boards on the pier
- Ask people to take the survey at the bottom of the schedule card
“If you can give two hours and do these three things, we are hopeful about the results of our demo project,” the city of Groton stated via Facebook. “If you are interested, please send your email address to mayor@cityofgroton.com so we can send you the volunteer form.”
