Historic Civil War Diary Stolen from Groton City Library: Police

It is believed to have been taken sometime between April and June.

GROTON, CT- Police believe someone has stolen a civil war diary from the Brill Memorial Library, as reported by The Day.

The dark brown diary is reportedly a heavily annotated soldier’s account of the Civil War with contemporary clippings, The Day reported. It is believed to have been stolen sometime between mid-April and Wednesday.

It is marked as The Diary of Armenius Bill and has both a US flag and battle flag on the cover, according to The Day. Word has been put out about the theft to Civil War dealers, and anyone with information is asked to immediately contact the Groton Police.
