It's 'Pfizer Day' Mayor Proclaims

Mayor Keith Hedrick declared Monday Nov. 4 as 'Pfizer Day' in honor of the company's research and development center's 60 years in Groton.

GROTON, CT — City Mayor Keith Hendrick delivered a proclamation to Pfizer in honor of the company's six decades conducting research and development in Groton.

This year marks Pfizer’s 60-year anniversary of R&D in Groton, Connecticut. The 160-acre site with 2.8 million-square-feet of state-of-the-art facility space is where more than 2600 colleagues are conducting critical science every day.

The Groton site is the largest R&D site for Pfizer globally and has a long and proud history of drug discovery and development for medicines including Zithromax, Xalkori, Steglatro, and Xeljanz.

One of the things we’re proudest of here at Groton is that our scientists have directly contributed to building our R&D pipeline, which today is stronger than ever. What makes this site unique is that nearly every Pfizer product is developed, in part, at this R&D site

Colleagues in Groton provide vital research expertise and resources to scientists around the globe, at every level of drug discovery and development, and across all of Pfizer's therapeutic areas.

Supporting the community, we live and work in is extremely important to Pfizer.

We work closely with many local community programs, including the Mobile Food Pantry, Groton beautification efforts, United Way and more.

We’ve helped nearly 90 local nonprofit organizations and 15 high school seniors through our community grants and scholarship programs.

Pfizer colleagues donated thousands of volunteer hours and more than $4 million in 2018."
