Juvenile Suspect in Groton Shooting to be Tried as Adult

The 17-year old suspect will be tried as an adult due to the serious nature of the charges.

GROTON, CT – Police said Wednesday the juvenile charged in connection with a shooting over the weekend will be tried as an adult due to the serious nature of the charges, The Day reported.

The suspect, 17-year old Cevon Riley of New London, is charged with first degree assault and other charges in a shooting that occurred outside a 99 Restaurant, according to The Day. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Groton police immediately.

Riley was arraigned in court Wednesday, where his case was automatically transferred from juvenile to adult court based on the charges, The Day reported. His case has been continued until Oct. 20.
