Lockdown Lifted For Groton Schools, Summer Programs: Report

Police said some schools and summer programs in Groton were on lockdown for a couple hours "out of an abundance of caution."

GROTON, CT — Police said schools and summer programs near Midway Oval in Groton were placed on lockdown for two hours Friday morning as officers searched for a suspect who had allegedly fled the scene of a domestic violence incident, according to media reports.

According to the Day, police said the incident occurred around 6 a.m. and the suspect was taken into custody by 9:30 a.m. Police said the lockdowns were "out of an abundance of caution."

According to NBC Connecticut, the domestic incident occurred in a neighborhood near Harry Day Drive and involved a threat at a residence there.
