Man Arrested After Driving On Flat Tire: Groton Police

Groton police said a Ledyard man was arrested after he was seen driving on a flat tire, creating sparks in the process.

GROTON, CT - Groton police said a man was arrested Saturday after he was seen driving on a flat tire, creating sparks in the process, the New London Day reported. Police said the suspect has been charged with driving under the influence.

Robert C. Wade, 26, of Ledyard was pulled over at approximately 11:45 p.m. after being spotted driving on Mitchell Street, according to the New London Day. The officer noticed sparks coming from the tire rim of his car. (To sign up for Groton breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Police said the suspect's speech was slurred, his vehicle smelled like alcohol and he did not pass a field sobriety test, the New London Day reported. He was also charged with driving an unregistered vehicle and driving with a defective windshield.
