Man Charged In Groton Grocery Store Robberies: Report

Police said a Rhode Island man has been charged in two robberies that occurred at a Stop & Shop in Groton.

GROTON, CT — Police said a Rhode Island man has been charged in two robberies that occurred at a Stop & Shop in Groton, the New London Day reported.

According to the Day, police said John H. Lamotte, 52, of Bradford, R.I., is charged with passing a note to an employee at the state Route 12 store on Dec. 6, 2016. The suspect demanded money and also implied he had a weapon, police said.

Police said the second incident occurred on Sept. 18, 2017, at the People’s United Bank inside the same store, during which the suspect verbally demanded money. In both cases, the suspect allegedly fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
