Man Charged With Murder In Groton 'Human Remains' Case: Report

A man is being charged in the killing of a 58-year-old woman whose remains were found near a Groton cemetery last month.

GROTON, CT — City of Groton police have arrested a man accused of killing a woman whose remains were found near a cemetery in March.

Donald Coffel, of Groton, is facing charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence, and improper disposal of a body, according to NBC CT.

He is accused in the death of Suzanne Wormser, 58.

Police determined that the incident was not connected to any other missing person cases, and that Wormser and Coffel knew each, NBC CT reported.

The news comes as speculation about a serial killer has increased on social media due to a number of cases of human remains being found in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.

Police, however, have not established any links between the cases.

In the Groton case, human remains were found last month near the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery near the SEAT bus stop on Groton local route 11. The remains were found in a suitcase, according to WTNH News-8.

It's believed that the remains were left near the cemetery in mid-February, but it's possible that the victim may have been unaccounted for before that time, police said.
