New Details Released On Human Remains Found Near Groton Cemetery
There have been three cases of human remains being found in the area recently.

GROTON, CT — City of Groton police recently issued a statement regarding human remains that were found near a cemetery last month.
Police said they were unable to identify the victim. However, they did discover that the victim was an adult "with light pigmented skin, between the ages of 40 and 60."
Police said they believe the victim may have had Turner Syndrome, which is a rare condition that is connected with "physical characteristics such as short stature, broad chest, short wide neck, and small chin," police said in the statement.

The human remains were found near the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery near the SEAT bus stop on Groton local route 11.
It's believed that the remains were left in the cemetery in mid-February, but it's possible that the victim may have been unaccounted for before that time, police said.

There have been two other cases of human remains found in the area in recent months. Last week, state police began an investigation after human remains were found in Killingly.

In another case, police found remains in Foster, Rhode Island, on March 27. The remains were identified as Michele Romano, and police have deemed her death suspicious, according to NBC CT.
Police have not established any link between these cases.

The City of Groton Police Department is providing an update and requesting the community’s assistance regarding the unidentified remains located on March 19th, 2025, near the corner of Mitchell Street and Ledyard Avenue. We are hopeful that there are individuals who have information which will assist us in identifying our victim or understanding what happened to her.
The victim’s remains were located adjacent to the entrance of the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery near the SEAT bus stop on Groton local route 11. Investigation has revealed the victim's remains were left at that location by an unknown offender in mid-February, however, it is possible that our victim may have been unaccounted for prior to that time.
Unfortunately, investigative efforts have been unable to determine the identity of the victim. What we do know, is that the victim is an adult female with light pigmented skin, between the ages of 40 and 60. Preliminarily, we believe she may have had Turner Syndrome. Individuals with Turner Syndrome often display physical characteristics such as short stature, broad chest, short wide neck, and small chin.
As we continue to follow up on all leads and pursue every investigative angle, we are asking for the community’s assistance in sharing what they may know. Regardless of how insignificant or irrelevant you think your information might be, please come forward and let us make that determination.
