Man Charged In Shooting Outside Groton Pub Rejects State's Offer
The man accused of fatally shooting Joey Gingerella outside a Groton pub last year has rejected the state's plea deal.

GROTON, CT - The man accused of fatally shooting Joey Gingerella outside a Groton pub last year has rejected the state's plea deal, the New London Day reported. His case is now expected to go to trial in 2018.
Dante A. Hughes, 31, faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted of murder, according to the New London Day. The state's offer would have given Hughes a 40-year sentence if he plead guilty to his charges. Hughes is charged with shooting Gingerella in the parking lot of Ryan's Pub in December 2016 after Gingerella allegedly tried to stop the suspect from battering his girlfriend, according to the New London Day. Members of Gingerella's family and a large group of supporters attended Hughes' court date on Monday.
