Man Charged With Striking Pedestrian In Groton Hit-And-Run: Police

A man is facing charges of evading responsibility causing serious physical injury and tampering with evidence, police said.

GROTON, CT — A Groton man is accused of hitting a pedestrian and fleeing the scene of the accident, according to police.

Russell Ledger, 66, was charged with evading responsibility causing serious physical injury, tampering with evidence, and failure to use care to avoid a pedestrian.

The accident occurred on Benham Avenue on Jan. 18. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition, WTNH News-8 reported.

City of Groton police served Ledger with a warrant on Wednesday after he was identified as the driver in the accident.

He was held on a $30,000 court set bond.
