Man Possessed Heroin And Cocaine Packaged To Sell In Groton: Police

Police said they seized the cocaine and heroin. The investigated focused on the sale of drugs at a local hotel, police said.

GROTON, CT — A New London man was arrested in Groton for allegedly possessing both cocaine and heroin that was packaged for sale, police said.

On July 7, the Groton Town Police Department, assisted by The Regional Community Enhancement Task Force, which is comprised of Detectives and Officers from southeastern Connecticut, formed to combat the heroin epidemic in the area and to improve the quality of life for citizens, arrested one for drug related charges, police said.

The Groton Town Police and Task Force officers initiated an investigation into the sale of cocaine occurring at a local hotel, police said. As a result of the investigation, an arrest was made and an amount of cocaine and heroin packaged for sale was seized, police said.

As officers attempted to place the accused, Robert McIntear, 29, of Blackhall Street in New London, in custody he attempted to flee and physically resisted with officers, police said.

The accused was taken into custody without injury, police said. He was transported to the Groton Town Police Department where he was held until released after posting a $50,000 surety bond.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at GA 10 in New London on July 18 to face the below listed charges.
