Man Sells Drugs In Car While Infant Sleeps In Back: Groton Police
Groton police said a parolee has been charged with engaging in a drug deal in his car, where an infant was sleeping.

GROTON, CT — Groton police said two 26-year-old's have been charged with engaging in a drug deal in a car where an infant was sleeping, according to media reports. Police said one of the suspects was a parolee, who was later found to have a stolen handgun at his home.
The arrest was made Thursday as officers were patrolling the parking lot of an unidentified business on Gold Star Highway, the New London Day reported. Police said the officers noticed suspicious activity in a car upon entering the lot and approached the vehicle to investigate.
Police said officers found the driver, Rashon Saunders of Groton, with narcotics on his lap, according to the New London Day. The suspect was also found to have heroin packaged for sale, ecstasy and cash, and was subsequently arrested.

Police said the man to whom Saunders was allegedly selling heroin, Cody Belanger-Marlow of Groton, was arrested and charged with possession, according to News 8. An sleeping infant in a car seat was located in the backseat of the vehicle during the suspects' arrest, police said.
Officers later discovered Saunders was on parole and found a loaded handgun during a subsequent search of his home, the Hartford Courant reported. Police said the gun had been reported stolen and was not properly stored.

Police said Saunders faces a number of charges, including sale of heroin, criminal possession of a firearm and risk of injury to a minor, according to the Hartford Courant. Both men are scheduled to appear in court Nov. 28.
