Man Wanted for Murder Lies to Groton Police About Identity During Drug Arrest: Police
He lied about his identity when arrested, but police found another charge for his real identity.

GROTON, CT – A New Haven man lied about his identity during a routine drug bust, and officers later discovered he was suspected of murder.
Vernon Horn, 35, was taken into custody for possessing and intending to sell cocaine, according to a release. He gave officers a fake Ohio identification card and lied about his identity, until fingerprints revealed the truth.
Officers also found medication bottles with Horn’s name on it, and then discovered he was wanted by New Haven police for failure to appear in court. He was revealed to be an accused murderer, convicted in 2000 before his case was overturned in 2014.

Horn was convicted and sentenced to 14 years in prison before the case was overturned, and he was released pending a retrial. Horn also flooded the Groton Police Department’s toilet after being arrested, for which he was charged.
He is being held by the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task. Horn will appear in court on Aug. 11.
