National Discount Retailer Plans To Open Groton Store

GROTON, CT — Discount clothing retailer Ross Dress For Less is charting a significant expansion in the state.

The company has plans to open five stores in Connecticut. The new locations will be in Hamden, Newington, Manchester, Groton and Enfield, according to The Connecticut Scoop.

The Groton store is among those opening in 2027. That location will be at 670 Long Hill Road in a former TJ Maxx, The Connecticut Scoop reported. TJ Maxx recently moved to Groton Shoppers Mart.

The Hamden store at 2300 Dixwell Ave. is scheduled to open in the fall and will mark the company's second location in the state. A Trumbull store opened last year.

The Newington store will be located at the newly rebranded Ross Plaza at 3105 Berlin Turnpike and will open in spring 2027, according to The Hartford Courant. The site is a former Joann Fabric.

Ross Dress For Less will open at another former Joann Fabric space at 1470 Pleasant Valley Road in Manchester, though no timeline has been established, The Hartford Courant reported.

The Enfield store will be in a former Ocean State Job Lot at 25 Hazard Avenue. That store is scheduled for a 2027 opening, according to The Connecticut Scoop.

The department store chain, which specializes in clothes, home decor and other items sold at discounted prices, currently operates stores in a number of other states, including New York, New Jersey, Florida and California.
