Opening Night Spectacular

The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra launches its 68th season on Saturday, October 25, at 8 PM at the Garde Arts Center in New London.

ECSO Music Director, Toshiyuki Shimada, conducts ”The Opening Night Spectacular” in a 6-concert series, from October through April, which features music from many countries in an armchair trip around the world. Henry Kramer, guest piano soloist, plays the incomparable Rachmanioff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Augusta Read Thomas, composer, will give the pre-concert chat highlighting the works about to be played on the program including her own Aureole (Halo), and Kancheli‘s A Little Daneliade plus Tchaikovsky’s Francesca da Rimini. The Orchestra and Toshi Shimada were recently profiled in the New York Times for interesting and innovative programming.
