Police Arrest Groton Man Suspected of Burglary, Theft After Brief Chase
Police said he could be seen jumping fences as he attempted to flee.

NEW LONDON, CT - Police said they arrested a man Tuesday afternoon on burglary and larceny charges, among others.
Officers responded to the area of Norwood Avenue near Briggs Street around 1:46 p.m. to investigate reports of a garage burglary and purse theft. They were then given a description and direction of the the bicycle-riding suspect.
Police later located Eric Scott, 43, of Groton in the area of Hempstead Street near Mercer Street, who dumped his bike and ran through some backyards upon seeing officers. Police said he could be seen jumping fences as he attempted to flee.

The suspect was captured after a brief foot chase and search. He was also charged on a warrant for violation of probation.
