Citizens Advised To Beware Of Possible New Scam: Groton PD

Groton police are warning citizens to beware of a possible new scam.

GROTON, CT — Groton police are warning citizens to be advised of a possible new scam conducted over the phone. Police said the suspected scam targets citizens with unsolicited calls from "The American Police Alliance."

Police said the caller will say they are collecting money for a drive "done each year to support those who protect our nation's citizens and raise money for police officers."

Police said these calls appear to be generated from a local number, and returned calls are not answered, police said. Calls to the phone number listed on the alliance's website also go unanswered, police said.
