Residents Petition Groton Charter Revision Proposals
A group of residents are working to petition the Charter Revision Commission report to referendum.

GROTON, CT - A group of residents are working to petition the Charter Revision Commission report to referendum, the New London Day reported. The commission proposed several changes to the town's government, such as holding an annual budget referendum and creating a board of finance.
The commission report was ultimately rejected by the former Town Council last month, and must be petitioned to referendum in order to go on the ballot in November 2018, to the New London Day reported. A petitioning group must collect signatures from about 19,000 registered voters in order to make this happen.
The group, who have called themselves Groton's Right To Vote, plan to collect 2,000 signatures and have been standing outside establishments around town to do so, the New London Day reported. They have also met opposition from a group called Neighbors Representing Groton, who have started a Facebook page.
