State Bond Commission To Approve $28 Million For Electric Boat
State officials applaud the Bond Commission for its financial commitment to the Electric Boat submarine facility in Groton.

GROTON, CT — State Rep. Christine Conley (Democrat – Groton, Ledyard) and State Rep. Joe de la Cruz (Democrat – New London) announced Thursday the State Bond Commission is expected to approve $20 million in state aid for the General Dynamic Electric Boat submarine facility in Groton.
According to a news release, an additional $8 million for workforce training programs to support Electric Boat and its supply chain network.
“Electric Boat is a key part of Groton’s continued economic development,” Conley said in a release. “With these two large items awarded by the Bond Commission, the growth seen at the submarine facility will be incredibly beneficial.”

“With this investment from the state, Electric Boat’s positive influence on our region will only continue to grow,” de la Cruz said in a release. “With more areas for development and training opportunities for its workforce, the impact on the region will be nothing but exceedingly positive.”
Electric Boat will use $20 million to finance dredging which will support the launches of new submarines, as well as a manufacturing superstructure being built to support new submarine construction.

The $28 million in funds for Electric Boat are expected to be approved at the Bond Commission’s Wednesday, July 25, meeting at 10:30 a.m. in Room 1-E of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
