State Police Look For Leads In Missing Groton Woman Case
Sofia McKenna, 22, was declared missing last year.

GROTON, CT - Sofia McKenna disappeared nearly 10 months ago, and State Police are renewing calls for anyone with information on this cold missing persons case to contact them. McKenna, 22, of Groton, disappeared off the Connecticut coast during Memorial Day weekend last year.
A tweet from police reads: "CT State Police are looking for any information on this cold missing persons case. ANY information is welcome!"
"No signs of her have been found to date," family member Carol Fort said in an email to Patch in January. "We are continuing to try to spread the word and to hopefully reach anyone who may have been out on the beach or on the water the night [Sofia] disappeared."

According to a flyer created by Fort, McKenna and a friend, 20-year-old Spencer Mugford, went missing off the coast of Avery Point in the early morning hours of May 27, 2018. Their last known communication was a SnapChat photo taken around that time.

"The boat they were alleged to be on was found on May 28, 2018 on Truman's Beach on Long Island," Fort said in the flyer. "Spencer's body was recovered in the waters between Connecticut and New York, approximately 2.5 miles southeast of Avery Point, near the Dumpling Islands and Fishers Island on June 8."
According to the flyer, McKenna has a number of distinguishing marks or tattoos, including cherry blossoms with a butterfly on her shoulder, "searching for the thrill of it" on her ankle, her Zodiac sign (Cancer) behind her ear and "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path" across her foot.
She is 5 feet and 9 inches tall, with brown hair and blue eyes.
