The story of a man who was fatally shot while trying to help someone has found new life in a recent social media campaign.

GROTON, CT - Though 24-year old Joey Gingerella was killed after being shot outside a pub in mid-December last year, his story will live on through those who knew and cherished him, according to media reports.
Gingerella was shot to death almost two months ago outside Ryan’s Pub after police said he tried to help someone being assaulted, Fox 61 reported. In light of his death, a social media campaign has mounted to honor this good samaritan and ensure he is remembered all over the world for his selflessness.
The campaign was the idea of Ashley Shaw Giorodano, who was friends with Gingerella through addiction recovery, The Day reported. She has sought to keep her friend’s memory alive through a Facebook group that has garnered a worldwide audience.
