Town Council Votes To Abolish Zoning Comission In Groton
The Groton Town Council has voted to abolish the town's Zoning Commission.

GROTON, CT - The Groton Town Council voted Tuesday to abolish the town's Zoning Commission, the New London Day reported. The move will now place extra responsibility on the town's Planning Commission.
The change was approved by the council during a Committee of the Whole meeting, and must still be voted on at its next regular meeting, according to the New London Day. The Planning Commission will begin handling both planning and zoning matters on January 1, 2019.
Councilors had wanted to make the change sooner, however the Zoning Commission is 18 months into rewriting the town’s zoning regulations, the New London Day reported. Staff had originally asked the council to wait until July 1, 2019.
