Woman Assaulted Elderly Victim At Groton Bus Stop: Police

Police have arrested a woman accused of assaulting an 82-year-old woman in Groton on Wednesday.

GROTON, CT — A woman has been arrested on accusations she assaulted an 82-year-old victim at a Groton bus stop, according to police.

Groton Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call at 5:36 p.m. Wednesday regarding a physical altercation between two women at the SEAT bus stop on Plaza Court.

Police arrived and witnesses described the incident as an unprovoked attack on the victim.

Witnesses, according to police, said that the female suspect fled and provided a description of her clothing and her direction of travel. Police were unable to immediately locate the suspect.

The victim was sitting inside the vestibule holding a tissue to her mouth when police made contact with her. An officer reported that the woman's face was "extremely swollen" and bruised, with a large, bloody cut on her nose. The victim also had visible lacerations on her hands, arms, and legs, police said.

Groton Ambulance personnel and L&M Paramedics arrived and found that the woman had suffered head trauma. She was transported to L&M Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police investigated and arrested a suspect in the attack Thursday afternoon. Catherine Hudak, 53, of Groton was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree assault on an elderly victim, and second-degree breach of peace.

She was held on $75,000 cash/surety bond. She was scheduled to be arraigned in New London Superior Court on Friday.
