Woman Nearly Hits Groton Police Officer With Vehicle: Report
An Uncasville woman has been charged with nearly hitting a Groton police officer with her vehicle.

GROTON, CT — An Uncasville woman was charged Sunday with nearly hitting a Groton police officer with her vehicle, the New London Day reported. Police said the incident occurred when the woman tried to drive away after being asked about a recent shoplifting incident.
Police said the officer spoke to Mandi R. Williams, 40, as she sat in her car after an unidentified business reported a shoplifting incident, according to the New London Day. The suspect provided false identification and was allegedly argumentative with the officer, police said.
Police said the suspect nearly struck the officer when she tried to drive away, and became combative with officers when stopped, the New London Day reported. She was subsequently arrested, and is due to appear in court Jan. 26.
