Alert Guilford Police Officer Arrests 3 People Connected To Car Break-Ins: Police

Police said they are investigating to see if the trio are tied to other car break-ins in the area.

GUILFORD, CT — An alert Guilford police officer nabs three people accused of breaking into cars, police said. At 2 a.m. today, Officer Timothy McCain was patrolling the area of Route 1 at Brookridge Lane when he saw a vehicle driving through the cul-de-sac neighborhood, police said.

Due to recent car burglaries in the area, he turned around and and observed a laptop bag and other personal items thrown into the street that was not there when he first passed the area, police said. McCain stopped the motor vehicle and determined the three occupants, Malik Innocent, 18, Mary Pham, 18, and Vincent Aceto, 18, all from Bridgeport, had been entering unlocked cars in the the area, police said.

They were in possession of electronics, tools and other personal items that belonged to the residents on both Brookridge Lane and Jefferson Drive in Guilford, police said. All three occupants were taken into custody.

Malik Innocent was charged with fourth-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, interfering with police officer, and conspiracy to commit both larceny and burglary.

Mary Pham was charged with conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary.

Vincent Aceto was charged with fourth-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, and conspiracy to commit both burglary and larceny.

All three suspects were held on $2,500 bond.

"This incident is currently under further investigation to determine if the suspects are involved in other similar incidents in Guilford and surrounding shoreline communities. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Guilford Police Department at 203-453-8061," Guilford Police said. "We would also like to take this opportunity to remind citizens to always lock their vehicles, to remove or secure any items of value, and to always report suspicious activity, no matter how insignificant it may seem."
