Cash Paid For Firearms In Police Gun Buy-Back Program Sept. 26
It's a no-questions-asked, anonymous cash buy-back program to prevent guns from falling into the wrong hands, and to promote gun safety.
GUILFORD, CT — Partnering with the Ethan Miller Song Foundation and Swords into Plowshares Northeast, the Guilford Police Department holds a voluntary gun buyback and safe firearm storage event Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 400 Church St. department.
The primary goal of the event is to remove unwanted firearms from the community by helping gun owners safely dispose of their unwanted weapons. Last year, thanks to responsible gun owners, 80 guns were turned in for destruction and a number of firearm safes & gun locks were distributed.
“We are proud to once again partner with the Ethan Miller Song Foundation, and the Swords into Plowshares Northeast,” police said in a media release. “The gun buyback event provides an opportunity for people to anonymously and safely dispose of unwanted and unsecured weapons in exchange for cash. The goal is to prevent guns from falling into the wrong hands such as: children, individuals who may be in crisis, perpetrators of domestic violence, and criminals. The event will also promote gun safety and safe firearm storage.
