Christine Cohen Endorsed by the American Federation of Teachers
Cohen has pledged to make protecting education funding her top a priority in the Connecticut State Senate.

From AFT: Christine Cohen, Democratic candidate for State Senate in the 12th State Senate District today announced that she has received the endorsement of AFT Connecticut a union which represents approximately 30,000 professionals across the state, including PreK-12 teachers, paraeducators and education support personnel in 32 local and regional school districts.
“As the next State Senator for the 12th Senate District, I will fight to protect our education funding,” said Ms. Cohen who serves on the Guilford Board of Education. “In Guilford, my bipartisan approach has helped create one of the best school systems in the state. In fact, according to the State's Accountability Index Rankings, Guilford is 4th in Connecticut behind Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan all of whom spend significantly more per student. I will take that style of leadership to Hartford and work across the aisle to get things done.” “The decision to endorse your candidacy was made because of your commitment to working
families and advocating for issues that are important to AFT Connecticut’s members,” the AFT said in their endorsement. “Clearly, this election is very important to the people of Connecticut. We need strong leadership that will help turn this State around and your election is a critical part of this.”
Cohen has pledged to make protecting education funding her top a priority in the Connecticut State Senate and will fight against any proposals that would burden towns with mid-year education cuts. If elected, Cohen will work toward the expansion of early childhood education programming, protecting special education and education cost share grants for municipalities and create a partnership with Connecticut colleges and universities to ensure that higher education priorities align with those of our teachers and our State’s students.
