Close Vote For Guilford Republican First Selectman Nominee

GUILFORD, CT – The Republican caucus Thursday night went with first selectman candidate Robert Hartmann in a closely contested race with Board of Finance member Ken MacKenzie.

Hartmann, endorsed by the GOP Town Committee, won by a 77-71 vote. After the vote, MacKenzie said he hasn’t ruled out a possible primary run against Hartmann this September.

Whoever the Republican candidate eventually is, he will face Democrat Matt Hoey in the November election.

Incumbent Republican First Selectman Joe Mazza is not seeking re-election after running the town for two, four-year terms.
