Coronavirus Guilford: Foundation Creates Response Fund

With a single donation of $10,000 from one resident, the Guilford Foundation established a COVID-19 response fund to help impacted residents

GUILFORD, CT — With a $10,000 "seed"donation from just one resident, the Guilford Foundation has created a COVID-19 response fund for residents.

The temporary fund will benefit the Women & Family Life Center to make grants to provide immediate, short-term financial relief to individuals who live or work in Guilford.

In a press release, foundation director Liza Petra said the foundation has been "honored to partner with W&FLC on this critical effort."

People who live or work in Guilford who have been negatively impacted as a result of this pandemic and seek temporary financial assistance are encouraged to reach out to Women & Family Life Center at 203-458-6699.

The fund was created to help people who have tested positive for the virus and can’t work, loss of work or reduced work hours, loss of childcare, and need to care for a loved one.

The Women & Family Life Center will provide one-time grants to individuals of up to $500 to provided immediate, short- term relief. This should provide stopgap support as local, state and federal programs ramp up to address this crisis on a broader scale.

The Guilford Foundation said it secured a donation of $10,000 from a local citizen to seed this new fund, and we are encouraging donations to this fund through our website www.guilfordfoundation.org.

Its goal is to secure at least $20,000 for Guilford.
