GUILFORD, CT — Chief of Police Jeffrey C. Hutchinson said on Facebook that while officers will continue to protect and serve providing "quality police services to all that live, work and visit our community," he announced some changes.

Hutchinson said the department's "approach may incorporate risk minimization procedures that include social distancing, restricted access to the police facility and other common-sense approaches to our public interactions. We ask the public for their patience and understanding as we work cooperatively to overcome the challenges created by the virus."

"With this in mind and in an effort to protect both the public and our personnel, the department will be following a number of procedures, practices and preventative recommendations put in place by the local health department and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to help limit unnecessary exposures as well as to help control and mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus."
