Decision Made On Classes At Guilford Public Schools For Feb. 24
A powerful winter storm ripped through the region Sunday into Monday, bringing over a foot of snow across Connecticut.
GUILFORD, CT — Due to the intense blizzard that ripped through the region Sunday into Monday, classes scheduled for Feb. 24 in Guilford Public Schools have been cancelled.
The state of Connecticut does not allow for virtual learning days.
Approximately 15,000 customers were out of power across Connecticut as of mid-day Monday, officials said.

Utility companies have brought in crews from nearby states and Canada to help with power restoration, which could take as long as between two and five days, depending on the extent of the outages, officials said.
As of 6 p.m., there were 287 customers without power in Guilford, according to the Eversource outage map.

A winter storm parking ban is in effect in town until 12 p.m. on Feb. 24. Vehicles left parked in roadways during the ban are subject to tickets and tows at the owner's expense.
Additionally, residents are being encouraged to clear a three-foot space in every direction around nearby fire hydrants to allow safe access for first responders.
