Don't Become Victims Of Porch Pirates: Guilford Police

Police are urging residents to be vigilant this holiday season.

GUILFORD, CT — Guilford police are urging residents to take steps to ensure they don't become victims of the porch pirates, who wait for packages to be dropped off and then steal them. Police say this time of crime happens a lot during the holiday season.

"We encourage our community to stay vigilant and call the police when suspicious vehicles or people are in your neighborhood. It is also recommended to have your packages delivered to a neighbors house or your workplace if you will not be home to receive them. Leaving delivery instructions to drop packages at hidden locations on your property is also a recommended practice; for example, a back porch or side garage. Talk with your delivery driver to establish a safe place for your packages," police said.
