Guilford Budget Details Released
The Guilford High School renovation project is having a big impact on the 2016-17 budget.

GUILFORD, CT - It’s too early to tell if and how much taxes may increase next year, but some of the key information is coming into focus.
In the initial budget planning process, the Board of Selectmen and Board of Education have approved a combined $94.48 million budget for fiscal 2016-17, which increases spending by $3.8 million or 4.17 percent, the Guilford Courier reports.
The school budget is increasing by just 1.99 percent and the town operations by 2.5 percent. But debt service is spiking almost 8 percent with most of that a result of the $92 million Guilford High School renovation project.
