Guilford Budget Referendum Results

Residents voted on the proposed budget for 2016-17 on Tuesday.

GUILFORD, CT - Guilford residents have voted twice now to reject the proposed budget for 2016-17.

The vote this time was 2,023 votes against the budget and 1,828 for it, the Guilford Atticus reports.

The proposed budget would have resulted in a 2.74 percent tax increase, town officials said.

However, on the town’s website it notes that someone erroneously posted signs around town stating taxes were increasing 5 percent. It’s unclear who did that.

It’s also immediately unclear what will happen to the budget now, which is now headed to a third referendum.
