Guilford Budget Referendum Results: UPDATE

UPDATE: The third time was the charm.

The Guilford budget passed at referendum Tuesday. There were 2,765 votes in favor and 1,619 votes against.

Guilford, CT - A reminder that today is residents third chance to approve a budget, which goes into effect on July 1.

Two other budget referendums have failed. Polls are open until 8 p.m. at all five polling places.

After a $1 million cut by the Board of Finance the new amended 2016-2017 budget represents a 1.51% tax increase, officials said.

The Town also apologized on social media for the dual message and late message last evening regarding the referendum.

“It was a technical malfunction and we are looking into the cause. It was not our intention to send it out twice or at such a late time. We are sorry for the inconvenience,” town officials said on social media.
