WATCH: Video Shows Attempted Car Break-In In Guilford

GUILFORD, CT - Police are once again reminding residents that Guilford is not immune from car break-ins. There have been a series of break-ins recently.

On the department's Facebook page, the following post has been left:"

"We know we sound like a broken record when we say "Lock It or Lose It" but seriously..... if you don't lock your car.... you will lose your valuables in it. There are criminals from other towns and cities who come to our quaint little shoreline town because we leave the doors open...

"If we lock the doors, we lessen the opportunity these criminals have of making us victims.

"Below is video from a local resident who's house camera captured some of the events of early this morning; roughly 2:30am on 2/2/18. You can see a car pull up and 5-6 people exit the car. After exiting, the people begin trying the door handles of every car. When they find a car is locked, they move onto the next vehicle until they find an unlocked car door. A short time later, the stolen vehicle is seen driving form the area with the original car.

"Some may say, "I've lived here for decades and I'm not going to start locking my doors now."

"Times have changed. These people entering your cars and stealing your cars are not just wayward kids. They are serious criminals, many with lengthy arrest histories.

"We don't want to leave the welcome mat out for them....

"PLEASE lock your doors...."

"PLEASE do not leave your keys in the car....

"And PLEASE.... If you see something, say something....

"Thank you for sharing and stay safe."
