Guilford Fire Department Receives Massive Grant To Add Several New Firefighters

Federal officials announced the grant for the Guilford Fire Department.

GUILFORD, CT — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) and U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced $1,560,526 in federal funding to the Town of Guilford from the Federal Emergency Management Administration’s (FEMA) Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program.

The funding will allow the Guilford Fire Department to hire 8 new firefighters. “Day in and day out, firefighters put their lives on the line to save others and deserve the support needed to do their jobs safely and effectively. These significant federal dollars will help ensure that the Guilford Fire Department is well-staffed and ready to protect the community. We applaud FEMA for this wise investment and thank the brave firefighters in Guilford for their tireless service," DeLauro said in a news release.
