Guilford Lawmaker Receives Strong Score on Environmental Issues
The grade comes from the Connecticut League of Conversation Voters, the state's preeminent environmental advocacy organization.

Representative Sean Scanlon (D-Guilford, Branford) has received an 88 percent score based on votes concerning environmental issues he cast this legislative session, according to the Connecticut League of Conversation Voters, the state’s preeminent environmental advocacy organization, according to a statement from his office.
Scanlon, a first-term lawmaker who serves on the Environment Committee, was pleased with his score. “Preserving and protecting our environment and natural resources will always be one of my top priorities given how important these issues are to me personally and to the shoreline communities I represent,” Scanlon said in the statement. “I am proud of the work we did on the committee and in the House of Representatives this year and I look forward to continuing this progress when the legislature convenes again next year.”
The League of Conversation Voters praised Scanlon and his colleagues for supporting several key environmental issues this year including improving the financial sustainability of state parks, creating a Long Island Sound Blue Plan to identify ways to protect the Sound long term, strengthening notification requirements when pesticides are used on school grounds, banning pesticide use on municipally-owned playgrounds and a ban of personal care products that contain plastic microbeads by 2018.
