Guilford Election 2017 Results: Vote Totals For All Races
The town voted on several local positions on Nov. 7. Here are the full vote totals for all races.

GUILFORD, CT – Guilford voters sent a clear message on Tuesday night about who they wanted to lead the town the next four years. Democrat Matt Hoey won a resounding victory, piling up a near 2-1 margin over his Republican opponent.

Hoey got 4,641 votes to Ken MacKenzie’s 2,465 votes. Hoey will be replacing Republican First Selectman Joe Mazza, who decided not to seek a third, four-year term.
Reflecting on his big win, Hoey said he was “honored” to be elected and vowed that he and his team would stay true to the values that have made Guilford a town that is envied across the state. State Rep. Sean Scanlon, D-Guilford, said on social media: "Congratulations to my friend - and our next First Selectman - Matt Hoey!

In the other races, Democrats outpolled their Republican counterparts in the selectmen contest, also. Democrat Sandra Ruoff was the top vote getter, with 4,092 votes. Fellow Democrat Louis Federici, Jr. got 4,026. Republican Charles Havdra got 2,793 votes, and fellow Republican Susan Koch Rennder got 2,600 votes.
In the race for Board of Finance, the top vote getters were Democrats, however. Veronica Wallace with 4,884 votes got the most votes, followed by fellow Democrat Kenneth Gamerman with 4,473. Republican Jeffrey Beatty topped the Republicans with 3,610 votes; Jonathan Trotta got 3,527 votes, and Peter Goletz got 3,103.
For Board of Education, Democrats again got the most votes, with Mary Best topping with 4,827, followed by Moira Rader with 4,780. Republicans were led by Amy Sullivan with 4,011, Vincent Baguio with 3,831 and Theodore Sands with 3,823.
For Board of Assessment Appeals, Democrat Arnold Skretta with 3,930 votes topped Michael Basso’s 2,588.
