Guilford PD Receives Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies
Advanced Law Enforcement Accreditation is a voluntary process that requires compliance with a set of 468 best practice policing standards.

From Guilford PD: On July 29, 2017, the Guilford Police Department received the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Advanced Law Enforcement Accreditation Award. This is the fifth accreditation award for the Guilford Police Department which has been accredited by CALEA since 2005.
CALEA Advanced Law Enforcement Accreditation is a voluntary process that requires compliance with a Comprehensive set of 468 best practice policing standards based on policies that reflect the current thinking and experience of law enforcement practitioners and researchers in the areas of; roles, responsibilities and relationships with other agencies; organization, management, and administration; personnel administration; law enforcement operations, operational support and traffic safety; detainee and court related services; and auxiliary and technical services.
The Accreditation award is granted for a four year period during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting to continued compliance with all applicable standards. The Guilford Police Department is in a continuous process of self-assessment designed to constantly develop and implement policies and best practices designed to provide the citizens of Guilford with a Police Department that is clearly committed to professionalism and excellence.
