Town officials are seeking to have the jury's award thrown out.

GUILFORD, CT — Guilford Police Officer Mark O'Connor has been awarded almost $200,000 by a jury after concluding that O'Connor was unfairly passed over for a promotion to sergeant, the New Haven Register reports.

O'Connor's suit claimed that the town passed him over for a promotion and decided to go with "multiple younger candidates" who were less qualified, the Register reports.

The town is seeking to have the jury's award tossed.
