The Guilford Police Department was honored by AAA and awarded their "Gold", the highest standard awarded.

GUILFORD, CT — Throughout 2016, the Guilford Police Department has continued their ongoing efforts to reduce preventable traffic accidents through proactive and focused traffic enforcement, police said in a news release.
The men and women of the Guilford Police Department, as part of their daily duties conduct traffic enforcement throughout town by monitoring traffic and utilizing a variety of tools. Radar units, laser units, mobile traffic speed dollies as well as coordinated and roaming enforcement patrols are used on a daily basis.
The Guilford Police Department participated in the statewide “Click it or Ticket” campaigns, which added focus to seatbelt compliance. In addition, our Officers receive advanced training in the detection and apprehension of drivers operating under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The Guilford Police Department has also used checkpoints throughout the past few years set up specifically to target seatbelt compliance. These checkpoints have been funded by the generous donations made by the Mason family, who have raised and donated funds for this specific enforcement and education following the tragic loss of their daughter, Kelley, in a motor vehicle accident.
Aside from enforcement, the Guilford Police provide car seat installation services which are conducted by Officers who are state certified Child Safety Seat Technicians, offer bicycle safety rodeos and discuss the danger of texting and talking on cell phones while driving to our young drivers in our schools and to those who attend our Citizens Police Academy.
